ISLAMABAD, September 2: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has offered Army Chief Gen. Raheel Sharif two key posts of Field Marshal or Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, sources said.
According to sources, before going to US this month, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would decide about the future of Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif.
On the instruction of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar during a meeting with Army Chief General Raheel Sharif had tabled two options in front of him and if he would be agreed on any one point, the PM would issue notification regarding the matter.
The sources said that during the meeting both the stalwart of PML(N) had sought the position of Army Chief on two points that is if he wanted to be the Field Marshal , the government would give him the status of Field Marshal. And if he desires, the government is ready to offer him the post of Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, however there will be not any compromise on the balance of power.
The CoAS did not respond to the government offer yet , but the reliable sources said that Prime Minister who is going to USA on 13 September, wants to resolve the issue that which seat is suitable for General Raheel Sharif before leaving for America .
As PM Nawaz Sharif would go on almost 20 days foreign visit as before going to USA he would also stay in London for a short time where he would undergo his medical check-up. The political and diplomatic circles are giving special importance to PM’s visit to USA. As the speech of Prime Minister in the United Nations General Assembly and his meetings with international leaders would define the future policy of Pakistan.-Online
