Image result for Asad hits 55-ball 92 as Karachi Whites qualify for T20 finalMULTAN: Ashad Shafiq hit a sparkling fifty as Karachi Whites qualified defeated Peshawar Region to quality for the final of Cool & Cool Jazz National T-20 Cup on Thursday.
In the first semi-final, Karachi Whites won the toss and decided to field first.
Iftikhar Ahmad from Peshawar Region remianed top scorer by making 78 runs on 53 balls with seven fours and three sixes not-out while Anwar Ali added 24 runs and Fakhar Zaman 23 runs in total 178 runs for seven wickets in fixed 20 overs.
The target of 178 was the higest score in National T-20 Cup matches played at the Multan Cricket Stadium so far.
Faraz Ahmad from Karachi Whites took two wickets, Tabish Khan, Sohail Khan, Azam Hussain and Tariq Haroon took one wickets each. Karachi Whites openers Zain Abass and Rameez Raja (junior) started the innings while Rameez Raja went back to pavilion after making nine runs. Asad Shafiq, captain of the Karachi Whites, came one-dowm and made highest 151 partnership with Zain Abass.
Zain Abass run-out on 59 runs while Asad Shafiq scored 92 runs on 55 balls with 10 fours and three sixes and led to the victory in 18.2 overs and remained not-out.
Waqas Masood from Peshawar Region was the only bowler who got only one wicket.
Asad Shafiq was declared man of the match.
It is pertinent to metion here that the Peshawar Region had won the last three National T-20 cup titles consecutively and could not reach in final this time.- Agencies
