imagesNew Delhi, Oct 24 : Pakistan’s Saeed Ajmal has been one of the most successful off spinner produced by the country. However, since his bowling action was banned by the ICC, the bowler has not been able to find his place in the recent squad, Indian state run media reported on Monday.
The bowler has called on the national selectors to reward him a place in the national team, on the basis of his performances in domestic cricket. Ajmal rejected all the rumours pertaining to his retirement saying that wearing green is what he wants.
“No matter what anyone says. No matter what anyone thinks. I have confidence in my own abilities and I know I deserve another shot at international cricket,” Ajmal said in an interview to the Press Trust of India.
Once considered the bowling spearhead of Pakistan’s bowling line up, was known for his ability to develop different kinds of deliveries and was the also country’s leading wicket-taker in all three formats.
“I don’t know what more to do I was top wicket-taker in the English T20 event and in the national T20 championship held recently. I am bowling well in domestic cricket. The selectors need to acknowledge my efforts,” he said.
The off-spinner has played 35 Test matches taking 178 wickets, 113 One Day Internationals (ODIs) taking 184 scalps and 64 Twenty20 Internationals taking 85 wickets.
“I want to go out wearing the Pakistan colors because I don’t want to disappoint my fans and supporters who have always encouraged me. I just want to be given a chance to prove myself again. If I can’t deliver I wouldn’t complain again,” he said.-Online
