Islamabad lock down is the talk of town every where and one can feel the looming chaos accordingly. Opposition is all set to trap the government over Panama leaks investigations. But it is more of politics rather than a deep desire for meaningful accountability as evident from the visible divide in opposition. PTI and PPP leadership is busier in ridiculing each other instead of focusing on the ruling party. PPP can not afford across the board accountability due to a shadowy past and the fluctuating response in Sindh exposes the true intentions. PTI is vigorously pursuing the Panama issue and now claims a final show down in Islamabad on 2nd November. Suspicions exist about PTI’s intent too as completion of PML-N term may seal the fate in next polls. Apparently a big disaster is likely to emerge whether lock down succeeds or fails. Can we afford all this? Why there is a total lack of sanity on part of opposition and ruling party? Issues of public interests are required to be raised on the floor of parliament as the masses rendered a heavy trust on the elected members during elections. On the contrary, parties carrying public mandate have failed to utilise the floor of parliament. It is highly disturbing non political approach. Sensitive issues are being trivialized either on media or in public meetings. Political culture has been at a great low. Significant delaying tactics of PML-N and non serious stance of opposition is likely to give birth to a major disaster. More unfortunate dimension of crisis is rapidly worsening regional situation and an upward trend in terrorist acts mostly occurring in Balochistan and KPK. Freedom movement in occupied Kashmir is undergoing a critical phase and oppressed masses desperately look towards Pakistan for moral support. Indian diplomatic offensive and coercive steps to sabotage CPEC through terrorism is a no mystery today. Are we tackling the situation in a desired manner? Undoubtedly, our performance is unsatisfactory and much below the expectations. It is a case of flawed priorities and policies. Lack of political will and capacity deficit is difficult to hide anymore. Onus of responsibility rests on both opposition and the ruling regime. Terrorist attack on police training centre Quetta once again exposes the deep rooted inefficiency and governance failure. Our ruling elite is trying to fight the war against terrorism with customary verbal statements and high sounding claims. Outcome is obvious! There is no iron hand to deal with the culprits. Media reported serious blunders rather criminal blunders on account of security of the police training facility. As usual the inquiry will hide the dust under carpet . We are victims of self generated blunders. When there was a need of unity , political elite ignited the flames of divide by switching to street protest mode . Resultantly, Kashmir Issue has been painfully trivialized and subsided. When there was a need to opt for transparent accountability , our ruling elite stood at the back of corrupt elements and provided sufficient fuel to opposition’ s deadly fire work . Indian aggressive designs are now a clear and present danger. Frequent firing on LOC, border tension at western front and false allegations of X- border terrorism are no least alarming developments. There is a need to adopt a unified stance by civil – military quarters, but on the contrary games are being played by staying media stunts. When there was a need to plead the case of Pakistan’s case about terrorism , our foreign office starts crying about Isolation. It is no less than a confession of inefficiency and diplomatic failure. Crisis can be handled by applying a mid course correction provided you possess the intention to do so. Ours is the case of self generated disasters for which we desperately need a ruthless introspection.
