ISLAMABAD, October 31: Women supporters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) were allegedly manhandled and shifted to police vans as they were detained on Monday for violating Section-144 that was imposed last week for a period of two months.
Women police held the enthusiasts as they reached Bani Gala, observing call of the party leader, Imran Khan to flock the federal capital ahead of a demonstration on Wednesday.
Members of the political organisation who were detained include, Raheela Anwar, Rubina Akhtar, Raheela Mehndi and Dr Nosheen among others.
Protest and resistance put up by the detainees remained in vain against in confrontation with women force of Islamabad Police.
Imran Khan is scheduled to lead a protest on November 2 that aims to paralyse the federal capital in one of party s pressure tactics to hold the premier accountable for his alleged unaccounted-for wealth. PTI enthusiasts had begun to reach Islamabad last week where they have set up camps while police and personnel of Frontier Corps (FC) are pursuing crackdown.
It should be noted here that the government had imposed Section-144 last week which criminalises gathering of four or more people at a place. -DNA
