I have utterly no doubt about some conspiratorial intentions having been involved in the decision to send the Rangers to foil the PIA workers’ protest. The protestors were neither terrorists, nor target-killers that they required the presence of the Rangers in the area of the Protest. There was ASF there to ensure safety of the airport facilities. But as it turned out some unknown elements had evil intentions. While the protest was going on, there were three ‘shots’ from a direction where the Rangers were not placed. Infact the cameras were able to catch some Rangers carrying sticks look surprisedly in the direction from which the sound of the shots had come. Some one or some ones had fired to kill. Three shots. Three dead bodies.
Who were they?
They were certainly not the
Rangers as the camera footages clearly established. If they were not the Sindh Police, they were ASF men— probably in civilian clothes. If they were not the ASF men, they were the notorious Guloo Butts of the Model Town massacre fame. They were certainly not phantoms. They had guns in their hands, and fingers to pull the triggers. And they were on a mission. To me the mission was clearly to tarnish the image of the Rangers directly and the Army indirectly. The conspiracy has backfired.
The cruel words of the Federal Information Minister did not remain just words.
They became deeds. Actions. Dead bodies. He had said “We will clip their wings and treat them the way thieves or burglers breaking into a home are treated.”
The PML (N) argument is: “The government had an institution’s existence to defend.”
The protestors counter argument is: “We have Pakistan’s National Carrier to defend against a sinister design to sell it off to pre-chosen buyers at a throwaway price.”
