Qawwal Amjad SabriKARACHI, November 7: The killers of Amjad Sabri have been arrested, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced during a news conference on Monday.
The chief minister said two criminals Ishaq alias Bobby and Asim alias Capri involved in Amjad Sabri’s murder had been arrested from the Liaqatabad area of Karachi. A large cache of weapons was also recovered from their possession.
In June, Amjad Sabri was gunned down by a motorcyclist near his Liaqatabad residence. He was on his way to a television studio to attend a Ramazan transmission when the incident took place.
The criminals were arrested by CTD in-charge Raja Umer Khitab and are involved in nine high-profile cases. Among the high-profile cases the two are accused in, include the October 30 attack on a Majlis in Nazimabad, attack on two Army personnel in Saddar parking plaza
Other cases the accused are involved in are 21 May 2016 attack on police constables in Aisah Manzil, 20 April 2016 attack in which seven policemen were martyred, 1 December 2015 attack in which two traffic policemen were killed, 20 November 2015 attack on Rangers in which four personnel were killed and 29 August 2015 attack in which Amir Haider Advocate Supreme Court was killed.
Weapons recovered from their possession included three SMGs, 27 pistols and an MP5 snatched from the police.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah told journalists’s that the two suspects belonged to outlawed Lashkar-e-Jhangvi Naeem Bukhari group.
During the news conference, the chief minister stressed people were being detained whenever there was any suspicion of wrongdoing. He added that the province was also seeking the centre’s help to fight terrorism.-Agencies
