ISLAMABAD, November 10: One of the two suspects in murder case of Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s senior leader, Dr. Imran Farooq on Thursday revealed that the 2010 assassination was a ‘birthday gift’ for the party’s London-based founder Altaf Hussain.
Khalid Shamim, a key suspect in the murder case, said in his confessional statement – that is available with Samaa – that he sent Mohsin and Kashif to London with the help of Muazzam Ali.
Shamim confessed that a close aide of Altaf Hussain, Muhammad Anwar, set the day of Sept. 16 for the murder since he wanted “to give Altaf Hussain this news on birthday (Sept 17) as a gift.” Shamim said he then went to Afghanistan along with Kashif and Mohsin through Chaman border, but was arrested while returning to Pakistan after five years. -DNA
