The upcoming Gwadar international sea port is a sore in the eyes of not only our enemies but friends also because of its peculiar geographical location and its vast capacity to accommodate over 100 berths .When fully operational it would upstage all other seaports of the region whether it is Chah Bahar or Dubai .It would give a tremendous boost to our economy.Let us admit that construction of Gwadar sea port project is the most important developmental venture ever taken by any government in the history of this country.This project should have been undertaken long ago but better late than never.
India would definitely try to stymie it through various machination .The Army would have to be extra cautious for foiling any attempt of our enemies to torpedo this gigantic project by carrying out subversive activities in Baluchistan.A special security division of the army no doubt is presently providing necessary security cover to the movement of merchandise on the route leading from Chinese border to Gwadar but there is a need to redouble its strength.
It would be advisable to appoint locals to all the non-technical posts connected with this project in Balochistan and even on technical posts Balochis need to be given preference over others if locals having required qualifications are available.The point is that stakes of Balochis be developed in this project.They should be made to own it.Time was when Moscow was interested to reach its warm waters through aggression.The Chinese have reached them through a policy of love and compassion which they have been showing to Pakistan since 1949.
