- Khan announces legal team in Panamagate case

ISLAMABAD, November 22: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan Tuesday questioned sudden entry of a Qatari prince in the Panama Leaks case against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family saying that it shows the government is not ready to face the courts.
Speaking to newsmen in Bani Gala on Tuesday, Khan slammed the government for presenting a letter by Qatar’s Prince Hamad Bin Jassim bin Jaber Al-Thani, which stated that Hussain Nawaz, son of PM Nawaz Sharif, had acquired the London flats via a business settlement with the Al-Thani family.
Al Thani, who became the foreign minister of Qatar at the age of 33 in 1990s and became its prime minister, was among the world’s top 140 politicians named by the Panama Papers and was also named by the TIME magazine as 100 most influential persons in the world in 2012 because of his huge wealth. He is among the top 29 billionaires named by FORBES who were also found in the Panama Papers.
“The sudden entry of a Qatari prince in the case shows that the government is not ready to face the courts,” he said, adding, “The prince will begin trembling over a single question, if he appears before the Supreme Court.”
The PTI chief noted that the three speeches Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif delivered on occasion with regard to the Panama Papers had no mention of Prince Hamad Bin Jasim.
Imran announced that Naeem Bukhari would head his legal team in Panamagate case while Babar Awan, Sikandar Mahmand and Malika Bukhari would be the member of legal team. He said that advocate Naeem Bukhari would present him in Hanif Abbasi’s case, adding that Hamid Khan has rescued from leading the team due to media pressure.
Commenting on his recent visit to London, Imran Khan said that he had gone there to meet his sons, and to acquire evidences pertaining to the Panama Leaks case.
Asked about his plans for marriage, the skipper said at present he was only focused on the Panama Leaks case.
We have attained many proofs to establish the facts in panama leaks case and lawyers team would decide that whatever would be presented in the court, he said adding that do and die situation is for the nation not for me. Theft money is property of the nation, not mine and nation would get benefit if corruption comes to its end, he added.
For the first time in the history of country a powerful has reached in top court and all leaders of ruling party are afraid, he said adding that corrupt people standing with Nawaz Sharif. Panama leaks case is case of Pakistan and PTI is assisting the court in bringing facts before nation, he added.
He said that it is the duty of opposition to point out theft or wrongdoings and protect the national exchequer and I am proud that my party had not let the issue buried.
I would defend the case filed against me but it is no the job of the government that if anyone point out the corruption and government may start black mail him. He termed the government and allies as political mafia.
Earlier PTI chief Imran Khan chaired a meeting, Jehangeer Tareen, Sheerin Mazari, Naeemul Haq and Aleem Khan were present in the meeting. Meeting reviewed the progress over evidences in Panama case and discussed the legal team’s issue for the case in SC.-Sabah
