ISLAMABAD, February 5: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan Friday announced support for Pakistan International Airline (PIA) employees.
He said PTI will join the PIA employees in the their protest in Karachi tomorrow as it is time now to stand up for the rights.
In a statement in Islamabad, the PTI chief said that he will join the protests against brutal policies of Nawaz Sharif government.
He said that inflation, unemployment and the failed policies of the federal government have made the lives of the people extremely difficult. He said that it is time to rise up for the rights.
Imran Khan called for all the Karachi residents to break the shackles of slavery and directed the PTI workers to join the protests against the government on Saturday.
Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi talking to media in Multan said that the government did corruption worth billions of Rupees in Pakistan International Airlines, not the employees. He termed the protesters innocent and denounced the government.
Employees of the national airlines have brought the company to point halt within four days of suspended flight operations across the country. Pilots Association and Joint Action Committee (JAC) joined the protest which has caused losses worth billions within few days.
Shah criticised the government for imposing 38 percent tax on gas despite the crisis. The ruling party is confusing the people by propelling opposing statements. He dubbed Rs 5 cut unjust on petroleum products’ prices owing to foreign loans.
Qureshi did not spare National Accountability Bureau (NAB) as well. He criticised the accountability department’s performance saying that it should net big fish.
Several non-state actors are instigating extremist acts in the country in context of which, Uzair Baloch has revealed a lot of facts, he added. Shah demanded law enforcement agencies to stretch circle of investigations in this regard. The PTI vice-chairman also further demanded the government to increase pressure on India over Kashmir issue. Qureshi also welcomed inauguration of Pakistan Super League (PSL) in Dubai. It should be mentioned here that Uzair Baloch, a wanted gang war criminal from Karachi’s Lyari was apprehended by Rangers, the paramilitary force which has been given extended powers to curb violence and target killing among other crimes there.
Sections have termed Baloch’s arrest a turning point in numerous crime cases that are under investigations. While some politicians have said that the arrest would put Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in trouble. -NNI
