It would have been much better had Bilawal held party conventions of PPP in Peshawar , Quetta and Karachi also instead of summoning the PPP workers from KPK,Baluchistan and Sind to Lahore.
The PPP might be down but it is certainly not out .It has a solid base in all the four provinces of the country and despite the financial shenanigans of its leaders it still has the potential to bounce back if it immediately takes some corrective steps.First,it needs to hold intra-party elections as soon as possible .Once the elected party office bearers are in place they should evolve party manifesto taking into account the ground realities and the expectation of the teeming millions of this country who still nurse a soft corner for this party asZA Bhutto had given them their identity. As to the political future of the PPP much will depend as to how far Bilawal succeeds in making it find its feet in Panjab where many of its votes have been nibbled at by the PTI.The replacement of persons like Manzoor Watoo and Riaz Malik was a good step but a great deal would depend on the leadership at the provincial level which would come up provided the intra party elections were held fairly.
The common man must know whether this party still believes in socialistic economy or has it changed its view on the issue of economy.Has it become an advocate of mixed economy? What is its stand on land reforms ?In which manner is it going to improve the lot of the have-nots?
Bilawal would have to coin some new catchy election slogan. His maternal grandfather had used with a telling effect the slogan of ROTI,KAPRA and MAKAN but the man in the street felt disappointed when on coming to power he carried out his people welfare agenda halfheartedly.
