As if there were not enough political parties in the country already Justice(retd) Wajiuddin has also formed a new political party of his own. In last December the former chief justice of the supreme court too had formed his political party. One wonders what useful purpose would be served with the creation of new political parties except that it would make confusion more confounded in the political arena of the country. We have already political parties galore in this country. Most of them revolve round single personalities. Experience of hindsight tells us that retired civil servants, judges, army generals etc etc have never been a success in the political field.
The reason why the retired persons who are spent forces don’t succeed as a politician is that they had spent a bigger and active part of their life in the government service. It is too late to start one’s career as a politician at the ripe age of 62 or 65 when one’s physical energies are on the wane and reflexes become weak. Forming a new political party and then nurturing it is a helluva job and normally it takes a decade or even more to attract public attention. In other words time and age is not on the side of the convener of those political parties who form them when they are on the wrong side of 60 after their retirement from government service. All such type of political parties formed in this country during the past couple of years have either died their natural death or they are in the oxygen tent. The fate of Justice Wajiuddin’s party won’t be much different from them. Mark my words.
