  • Says for the first time huge funds of Rs 43 billion have been provided to local governments.

PESHAWAR, February 8: The Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has said that the present government was striving for bringing positive changes in the system through reformation and streamlining of the institutions adding that solid and effective steps of the provincial government have resulted in making the performance of the institutions efficient to great extent. This he said while presiding over a high level meeting convened to discuss developmental and other issues of PK-1 Peshawar City here at CM Secretariat on Monday. The Chief Minister on this occasion ordered constitution of a four member committee comprising District Nazim, Town Nazim -1, District member Raza Muhammad Khan and Gul Bacha for streamlining of developmental activities in PK-1. The Chief Minister directed the elected local government representatives to have a vigilant eye over the performance of institutions.
The Chief Minister said that bringing change in the system to ensure transparency was part of the PTI manifesto. He asked the party workers to make people aware of the manifesto of the party to get their support. The CM elaborated that provincial government had strengthened the institutions by giving them policy guidelines and ending political interference in their affairs. He said that people were provided relief by introduction of merit in the recruitment process, reforming patwari system and improvement of schools, health outlets and police system. The CM explained that the provincial government was intended to give autonomy to the hospitals to ensure efficient delivery of healthcare facilities to the masses. He added that constitution of safety commission would empower the local government representatives. He said that for the first time in the history of province huge funds of 43 billion rupees were provided to local governments. He informed that fourteen thousand new teachers would be recruited in the province. Similarly he said that due attention was being given to the developmental and beautification to the provincial metropolis and hoped that Peshawar would emerge as a developed city within two years. The Chief Minister added that the work was in full swing on the development of the roads network of the city. He informed that beautification plan of the GT Road would be completed in next two months.-PR
