RAWALPINDI, February 09: The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), while acknowledging the meritorious services of outgoing ambassadors, hosted a farewell in which newly appointed envoys of different countries also participated. The prominent among the outgoing ambassadors were Dean of the Diplomatic Corp and Argentine Ambassador, Rodolfo J. Martin-Saravia who served 12 years in Pakistan while High commissioner of Bangladesh Suhrab Hossain spent 6 years.
Those who attended the reception/farewell ceremony included, the ambassador of the United Arab Emirates Essa Abdullah Albasha Al Noaimi, the Ambassador of Afghanistan Hazrat Omar Zakhilwal, Ambassador of Iran Mehdi Honardoost, Ambassador of Thailand Suchart liengsaengthong, Swedish Ambassador Tomas Rosander, Ambassador of Poland Piotr Opalinski, Ambassador of Korea Song jong-hwan and Ambassador of Ukraine Volodymyr Lakomov.
President RCCI Mian Humayun Parvez in his welcome address said that Pakistan has always endeavored to promote friendly relations with all countries of the world on the basis of mutual respect and cooperation. Pakistan is heading towards stability and tranquility as the security situation in the country has been improved, he added. President RCCI expressed hope that outgoing ambassadors will show the friendly and positive image of Pakistan and encourage their countrymen to increase investment in Pakistan. Addressing on the occasion, the outgoing Ambassador of Argentine, termed his 12 years stay at Pakistan as the golden period of his life.
The Ambassador of Bangladesh, in his address said that Pakistan and Bangladesh enjoy brotherly relations and with the passage of time these relations are further enhanced. The Swedish Ambassador Tomas Rosander said that there is tremendous scope of investment in telecom/IT sector in Pakistan and his country would like to take benefit from this opportunity. The Iranian Ambassador Mehdi Honardoost said that being a neighboring country Pakistan and Iran have several Mega projects of mutual importance. At the end of the ceremony, the president RCCI Mian Humayun Parvez presented souvenirs to the outgoing ambassadors and newly appointed envoys.-Agencies
