The Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau is in trouble. The Canadian Ethics Commissioner is probing as to why did he flew in a private chopper to the private resort of Agha Khan located in the Bahamas Island on the new year’s eve to enjoy his hospitality . The Ethics Commissioner has to determine whether his trip in any way contravened the Conflict of Interests Act of Canada. If found guilty he can be fined or given a rap on his knuckles. After this incident was reported in the media there has been a slump in the popularity of the Canadian PM by 12 percent.
We are far behind the West when it comes to public and political accountability. Politics in this country is the most profitable profession in which there is no danger of any loss. Politicians invest money in elections to get seated in parliament. Once they are there, they not only recover the amount invested by them in the polls ,they earn money many times over the money spent by them in the elections.
POSTSCRIPT: The sanitation system of the CDA leaves much to be desired. The residents of those localities of the twin city of Rawalpindi whose sanitation issues have been handed over to a Turkish company are more than satisfied with the performance of that company. The inhabitants of the federal capital demand that the sanitation affairs of Islamabad too be entrusted to the same Turkish company which is looking after the sanitation of Rawalpindi.
