ISLAMABAD, January 26: : Senior PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Thursday held the treasury benches responsible for “converting the National Assembly into a wrestling ring.”
Speaking to the media persons outside the assembly shortly after the brawl between Federal Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and PML-N MNA Shaharyar Khan Afridi, Qureshi said that opposition was united against the PML-N’s hooligans.
“It was opposition’s prerogative to speak on the privilege motion,” he said, adding that the government must have shown restraint.
“This has never happened in the history of Pakistani parliament. I have been a member of the parliament since 1980 and I never saw anything like this,” he told SAMAA.
Speaking on this occasion, PTI MNA Jahangir Khan Tarin said that his party won’t let the government make the house a wrestling wring.
“We will not backtrack from our stance on exposing Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif over Panama Leaks,” he said.
“PML-N members were trying to prove their loyalty with Nawaz Sharif by resorting to hooliganism. We too are soldiers of Imran Khan and will never back down from our stance.” – Agencies
