- Says match can be held ‘anywhere’ in such a security
- Says my real match is Panama so I am not going to Lahore to watch the match
ISLAMABAD, March 2: PTI Chairman and former cricket captain Imran Khan on Thursday reiterated his opposition to the final of Pakistan Super League (PSL) in Lahore, saying that there was no use of playing the match under curfew.
If the PSL is being conducted to revive international cricket in Pakistan, this is simply foolish, Khan said while addressing a gathering in the federal capital.
International cricket will be revived automatically once security situation normalizes in the country, he maintained.
Khan warned that if any mishap happened during the final, there would be no international cricket in Pakistan.
The PTI chief was of the view that stadiums would have been packed with fans if PCB had conducted the league in Pakistan. He said that PCB must stop holding the PSL in Dubai.
The PSL’s final will be played at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on March
5. Quetta Gladiators have already qualified for the final while the second finalist will be decided after the third playoff between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings. NNI Imran Khan has said that a match can be held ‘anywhere’ in such a security. “3000 officials have been appointed for the security of one match. A match can even be held in war-torn Iraq and Syria in such heavy security,” he said. The PTI chairman also announced to not watch the final match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) to be held on March 5 in Lahore. “I am not going to Lahore to watch the match. My real match is Panama,” the PTI chairman said. Khan further said, “I have not watched a single ball of the tournament. How can I comment on the cricketers?” He asked if only the final match should be held in Pakistan or the entire PSL should be held here and said that all our stadiums would have been filled if it was held here. He taunted the authorities to not hold the matches in the empty stadium of Dubai. Meanwhile, Imran Khan also did not get an invitation to watch the final. The Pakistan Cricket Board has sent invitations to many VIPs except Imran Khan. According to PTI spokesperson, Khan has no plans to watch the match even if he gets the invitation. – Agencies
