All tickets for the much-trumpeted Final of the PSL were sold out before the windows opened. Reportedly the top buyers were Rana Sanaullah, Abid Sher Ali, Khawaja Saad Rafique, Talal Chaudhry and Danyal Aziz. They got into the philanthropic mode and bought tickets for thousands of their followers. Only the miscreants were left out. With the exception of Sheikh Rasheed and Maulana Sirajul Haque. The latter has said he being a commoner will watch the match in the company of the commoners. Sheikh Rasheed had announced earlier that he had been successful in acquiring Rs. 500 ticket and had every intention to enjoy the match from the commoners’ stands.
This ‘intention’ on the part of Sheikh Rasheed has not gone well with Rana Sanaullah who in a press conference, commented yesterday that Sheikh Rasheed was of course worth the value of the ticket he had bought.
“I expect the media to ignore any mischief that Sheikh Rasheed may venture upon,” said Rana Sanaullah.
As the Mischiefmonger-in-Chief Imran Khan is not invited and has already announced his lack of intention to watch the final, Rana Sanaullah and company can heave a sigh of relief.
Will the Army Chief be there to provide the Guest-in-Chief Mian Nawaz Sharif a much-needed photo-session opportunity? Not known yet.
But from the morning of the 6th of March, the nation will be back to business as-usual. Back to the Panama Case. And to the Newsgate Case.
These two cases are (in the words of Chaudhry Aitazaz Ahsan) around the neck of the PML N government like WARNING BELLS. Of course temporary diversions can be managed but the bells will keep ringing till the arrival of the logical consequences.
