Recently, it has been reported by the Afghan press that General Doustum is under thick clouds, because of several interlinked issues, broadly covering the human rights violations committed directly or on his behest. Some experts are very curiously looking at the emerging reports and trying to comprehend the intended end result or intention behind the said row, which is almost nearing to declare him an anti- State and human rights violator, which obviously would yield consequences for him and his party. Besides it is also quite astonishing that a person, who was lately considered as so dedicatedly serving his country; is now becoming a character of hatred and symbol of evil.
It was earlier reported that several security forces have been deployed near the residence of the First Vice President General Abdul Rashid Dostum in Sherpoor area of Kabul city. It was claimed that the security forces belonging to the Afghan National Police and Quick Response forces have been deployed along with a number of armoured vehicles. The security forces were reportedly armed with heavy weapons and patrolling the area. The time frame of the said emerging scenario is quite interesting as it has happened when the First Vice President returned to his office after almost three months of his personal conviction of fighting the terrorists. His return to his office followed a controversial case filed against him by his political rival Ahmad Khan Ishchi. There were earlier reports that few weeks ago General Dostum had blocked the arrest of his nine security guards accused of unnatural misconduct and torturing of Mr Ishchi. It was claimed that the arrest warrants for the security guards of Dostum were issued by the Afghan Attorney General Office after they rejected several impeachments by the Attorney General’s Office.
Recently the First Vice President General Abdul Rashid Dostum has rejected the reports of media, suggesting that his house was under siege by the Afghan security forces. Dostum further added that the Afghan security forces were deployed due to security related issues having links with the neighboring areas lying close to his residence. It is quite understandable that there are some forces that are not in favour of General Dostum, and wants to get rid of him, due to his dedicated intension and Will to resolve the country’s security situation. Few experts are thinking that Afghan government could be behind this anti- Dostum row because there is a general fear within the circle of Kingmakers that the rising popularity of Dostum may damage their future game plan for Afghanistan. Some, are viewing that it might be Abdullah Abdullah playing behind the scene. However, in any case there is an element of involvement by someone or any force , viewing Dostum’s actions or plans in contradiction with the own actions or plans .Whether it’s a game plan by an insider or outsider, in both the cases the over all damage will be borne by the innocent Afghans. Hence, there is a threat of igniting a civil war like situation, which could also entice the other stakes holder of the power, with high chances of success for Abdullah Abdullah.
The situation has also created a new wave of hatred among the followers of the ridiculed leaders, which also include CEO Abdullah Abdullah recent past allegations against President Ashraf Ghani of incompetence and biased approach towards the governance and appointments related issues. However, there are timely interventions by the US and NATO countries to pacify the Afghan government problems at the beginning and amazingly both the leaders pay heed and agree to their suggestions, for very obvious reasons. However, the present situation also demands timely actions to rectify the problems, prior it’s too late to react. As the resultant skirmish could spread and the net result for Afghanistan’s situation would be a destabilizing factor for the region.
Experts view that the deterioration of Afghan stability, whether it is in terms of political or security related issues, it could culminate into the regional disturbances, mainly affecting Pakistan. Perhaps it is becoming the dilemma of present Afghan government that instead of concentrating on the efforts for providing the social, political security and over all peace and stability of the country for the general good of the public, it opted to address their personal future interests and discrediting own people. In such a gruesome scenario, when every new day in Afghanistan is either consumed by bomb blasts or new political stunt, how the innocent Afghan public could hope for a prosperous and peaceful Afghanistan. Afghan government needs to resolve their all problems through dialogue, as for any thing going wrong in Afghanistan has direct or indirect effects on neighbouring countries, hence they must resolve all their internal and external problems amicably.
