Ishaque Dar says money worth about 200 billion dollars has been stacked in the Swiss banks by some Pakistanis .An agreement has now been reached with the Swiss government which is being signed on 21st March 2017 and soon names of those Pakistani who are operating the accounts of this money would be made public.Besides ,steps would be taken to bring this money back to this country.
Is the finance minister serious in the matter or is he trying to pressurise Zardari who is notorious for having his money stashed in Swiss banks?
A couple of years back he had made a similar statement which had been billed by his detractors then as a political gimmick meant to push Zardari to the corner. There was complete silence on his part in the matter for almost two years and now when the next elections are round the corner Ishaque Dar has jogged into action once again all of a sudden.Had the government been serious it would have taken action in the matter during the past two years.
The latest statement of the finance minister is political in essence just like his statement made two years before which was also politically motivated. Both Zardari and Nawaz Sharif are two faces of the same coin. They have entered into the agreement that you scratch my back and I will yours. They won’t let each other down as they are sailing in the same boat when it comes to financial shenanigans. Both have a lot to live down.
