Once again he managed to get extra ordinary coverage on media who is commonly considered a ‘Run way Ambassador’ by most of the Pakistanis. Satirically, few used to call him an ‘American Ambassador’ deputed under Pak foreign office in Washington. What all he reveals in one of his recent article, contains nothing new or surprising. It was all as expected out of him. What surprises many of us is the title of ‘Traitor’ awarded by PPP to the ex beloved ambassador. And it came from the mouth of no one less than the leader of opposition Syed Khurshid Ahmad Shah . ‘Traitor’ title was followed by a demand for inquiry commission. This harsh verbosity reflects something really bad on part of the ex ambassador. What he did as ambassador can only be established through an inquiry but a pertinent question arises on intent of the party which selected a wrong person for such a sensitive appointment. Why a cry of traitor and a demand for inquiry after publication of an article ? Was this all not known to the party elders and leadership prior to the publication of article? Ex ambassador claims that he divulged similar information in front of Abbottabad Commission. So, at this point of time, it is well established that if anything, illegal or objectionable surfaced on part of Mr Haqqani, was already known to the decision makers. A call for inquiry after publication of article seems a badly orchestrated political stunt. Here lies the bitter reality of our national politics which revolves around hypocrisy, shameless cover up, and absurdity. This run away ambassador has been a darling of multiple regimes or groups including religio – political circles, military rulers, and so called democratic parties. Why no one could earlier indentify the obvious potential lethality camouflaged in his usual talents of shrewdness and hypocrisy. How a greedy opportunist man, well known for shifting loyalties or sides, can serve country’s interest in USA? Let’s not condemn the ex ambassador! He did what he was made for. Let’s condemn those who selected a highly unsuitable person for an extra ordinary sensitive job. Outcomes are obviously embarrassing and losses are beyond usual damage control measures. No one can prove his innocence by demanding an inquiry commission! Nation should take good stock of the blunders committed by the so called political leaders. Accountability through ballot remains the only possible option available with masses. Next elections are not far away. Let’s stand up and reject those who neither deserve to be in power nor they did any good for the country in the past. This pathetic practice of dealing sensitive national affairs in negligent manner must be curbed. The whole matter looks more pathetic with meaningless verbosity of cronies who resort to lengthy sensational statements. Policy of eye wash and cover up most be substituted with concrete actions. Nation do not elect the representatives to deliver lengthy statements, at a time, once they are required to act. Calling ex ambassador ‘traitor’ is not enough and the allegation must be proved at a legal forum through transparent holistic inquiry. Inquiry should not fix the spotlight only on ex ambassador. Nation deserves to known that who actually appointed this highly unsuitable ‘run away ambassador’ to represent Pakistan and why? What all blunders were committed under his supervision, should definitely be unearthed subsequently.
