LONDON, April 4: Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Tuesday addressed the British think tank Royal United Services Institute in Westminster, an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement said.
The army chief talked about the geopolitical environment, security challenges and the role of Pakistan and army in establishing peace and stability. He said that Pakistan is positively engaged to bring about peace in the region including Afghanistan, according to the ISPR.
Gen Bajwa said that Pakistan is a peace-loving country and wishes to resolve all outstanding issues with India including Jammu and Kashmir.
He also highlighted the potential of the China-Economic Economic Corridor (CPEC) to promote the economic development of the region.
The forum appreciated candid conversation by Gen Bajwa and acknowledged Pakistan army’s contributions towards establishing peace and stability, said the ISPR statement.
Earlier on Tuesday, a reception was hosted by the Pakistan High Commission in London in the honour of COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
COAS Gen Qamar Bajwa interacted with UK-based Pakistani community during the event and apprised them about the environment in Pakistan and the country’s achievements in efforts against terrorism and militancy.
The Army Chief hailed the role of overseas Pakistanis in Pakistan’s progress and assured them that the Pakistan Army shall continue to perform its due role towards the security of the country.
Earlier on arrival, Gen Bajwa was received by Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK, Syed Ibne Abbas.-Agencies
