It should be regarded as one of the strangest cases of ‘Back- Channel’ or ‘Track 2’ diplomacy.
In this unique case Pakistan is represented by Prime Minister himself who is also Foreign Minister. Incidentally he is also among the most ‘engaged’ of the country’s entrepreneurs and businessmen. India is represented by one of her topmost industrialists and businessmen who happens also to be a partner-in-business of a son of Pakistan’s Prime Minister, and who has ‘brokered’ strong ties between the family of Pakistan’s Prime Minister and India’s Pakistan-hating Prime Minister whose anti-Islam policies and anti-Muslim actions are no secret.
Has anyone ever heard of a country’s Chief Executive getting involved or engaged in Track Two diplomatic activity with a trade-partner who is a renowned businessmen of an enemy country?
The characters of Track2 diplomacy do not come into news or limelight. Here is a case in which a country’s chief executive tells the country’s military chief: “Guy—I am engaged in back- channel diplomacy with my business partner in India. I have blessings of Washington and London. So please—instead of making trouble, join hands.”
Pakistan’s Army Chief promptly obliges. Or does he?
Do you rule out the possibility of a turmoil going on in the mind of General Qamar Javed Bajwa….? What the hell is our Prime Minister doing? And why?
