ISLAMABAD, June 14: Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif will appear before the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), probing the Panama papers, at the Federal Judicial Academy today (Thursday).
Complete preparations have been undertaken in Islamabad ahead
of Prime Minister’s appearance before JIT. Prime minister will appear before the JIT at 11:00 AM today (Thursday).
Mayors of the twin cities reviewed the sanitation and other arrangements outside the Federal Judicial Academy while dilapidated roads in the vicinity of the building have also been repaired.
Meanwhile, banners expressing solidarity with the prime minister have also been displayed at various places in Islamabad.
Law enforcement agencies (LEAs) have also beefed up efforts to ensure infallible security arrangements at judicial academy and its surrounding areas. Nearly 2500 security personnel will perform duty on the occasion of the Prime Minister’s arrival at the Federal Judicial Academy.
In yet another similar development, the JIT has summoned Chief Minister Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif in connection with the Panama leaks on 17th June on Saturday.
A spokesman of Punjab government on Wednesday said that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif would appear before the joint investigation team (JIT) probing the offshore holdings of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his children on June 17.
Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan, a Spokesman of Punjab government, clarified that Shahbaz Sharif was not issues summon. A notice was issued to the chief minister asking him to appear before the JIT, he added.
He announced that the chief minister would appear before the JIT on the given date.
Mr Shahbaz will appear before the six-member JIT, headed by Federal Investigation Agency’s Additional Director Wajid Zia, two days after the prime minister’s scheduled appearance. According to a private TV channel, JIT has asked Shahbaz Sharif to bring Hudaibya Paper Mills documents along with him. According to sources Shahbaz will appear before the JIT along with all required record.-Sabah
