KARACHI/ISLAMABAD/LAHORE: Authorities across the country have finalised security arrangements for observance of Youm-e-Ali (R.A), the martyrdom anniversary of Ameer-ul-Momineen Hazrat Ali Ibne Abi Talib (R.A) today.
Mobile phone services are likely to be suspended in parts of Karachi, mostly along the route of main procession at the M.A Jinnah Road.
Sindh government has issued notification pertaining to pillion riding ban in Hyderabad and Karachi on the occasion on Youm-e-Ali (RA). The ban will commence on Friday at midnight and will continue till the next day.
The day is observed every year on 21st of Ramazan across Pakistan with religious fervour and reverence amid tight security.
Seminars and majalis are held and processions are taken out in every large and small city to pay homage to the fourth caliph of Muslims and eulogise his services for Islam.
Radio and TV channels will air special programmes to highlight the occasion. The newspapers will publish special articles and essays in this regard.
In Karachi, the central procession will be taken out from Nishtar Park. The participants will offer Zoharain prayer in Imambargah Ali Raza at M.A Jinnah Road after which the procession will head to Iranian Hussainian Imambargah, Kharadar where it will culminate in the evening.
All roads and streets connected with the main M.A Jinnah road will be sealed with containers from Numaish Chowrangi to Tower.
Thousands of police and Rangers personnel will perform duties in Karachi. Bomb disposal squad and intelligence officials have been deployed along the routes while the processions will be monitored through close circuit cameras (CCTV) at especial monitoring cells. – Agencies
