ABDULLAH MUSTAFVI
An upsurge is visible in atrocities against masses in Indian held Kashmir during last couple of weeks. Undeniably, Modi led Indian government is pursing a policy of violence, coercion and oppression of popular public sentiments . It is unfortunate! This inhuman approach is being widely criticized by those circles which happened to be in line with the Indian state few years back. Shaikh Omer Abdullah and political figureheads of his family had never been closer to Hurriat leadership on ideological grounds. Eventually, inhuman Indian atrocities and bloodshed forced him to adopt a critical tone against the Modi’ policies. Number of times Shaikh Omer Abdullah clearly objected upon the ongoing flawed ways of Indian occupied forces who brutally crush the unarmed masses in the garb of self styled security doctrine. A very valid point has started coming up from leaders like Omer Abdullah that India should approach Pakistan and Kashmiris with right intentions to seek a solution of the decades long complex issue. This suggestion clearly reflect that a major drift has taken place in the minds of ‘Pro- Dehli’ Kashmiri politicians primarily due to unending inhuman brutalities of Indian forces. Kashmiris have taken an ideological refuge by parting their ways from Indian state in their thought process . Oppressed youth has picked up arms in retaliation and icons like Burhan Wani have started surfacing on the canvas . Senior politicians, lawyers, journalists and business community carry no soft corner for the irrationale policies being imposed form Dehli. Logically, oppressed masses desperately look towards Pakistan with high hopes. Our response can be clearly classified in two categories. One, the public opinion is largely unanimous in favor of Kashmiri freedom movement and likewise a vigorous sentimental impression prevails since long. Two, state response to Kashmir issue has never moved forward from popular verbal claims and statements. This state of affairs is unsatisfactory and disappointing. A lot more is required to be done through reshaping the diplomatic response on Kashmir issue. Ongoing freedom struggle in Kashmir can not be delinked with existing regional tug of war between global players. There are multiple unexplored options and opportunities capable enough to enable Pakistan against the rising challenges. Our internal turmoil and political instability has adversely disappointed the masses in held Kashmir. Controversy related to an irresponsible statement from AJK PM multiplied the ill effects. Though, the misreporting of statement was promptly responded by PM AJK through a clarification but its echo will remain in the air for a long time. It is unfortunate to see that how our dirty politics can cast a shadow long enough to add darkness across the LOC in occupied Kashmir. Our national leaders should feel the responsibility and try to adopt a unanimous stance on sensitive national issues by rising above the political differences . New PM and his cabinet has taken Oath. Let’s not be off sight from our responsibilities and moral obligations towards the occupied Kashmir . Opposition and ruling party should stand united on all regional issues including the Kashmir. Our usual discord on internal politics should not affect the national stance on policy matters potentially capable to generate long term effects on geo-political dynamics and wider economic prospects . A much serious debate is required at the floor of the parliament to formulate a cogent policy to meet the upcoming challenges . Culture of hyper criticism on petty issues has gradually snatched the essence of statesmanship from our political scene .
This disease needs an urgent treatment before it turns into a cancer . Irresponsible approach by the political circles has significantly trivialized the critical issues like Kashmir , Afghan unrest , Indian sponsored terrorism , growing tensions in bilateral relations with USA and our persistent failure in capacity building of LEAs. Political leadership is expected to act according to the call of the present era challenges by coming up with a more sensible and pluralistic stance towards national obligations .
