PESHAWAR, December 11: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister for Health, Shahram Khan Tarakai has said that the provincial government is not only committed to eradicate polio virus from the province but is also taking effective and result-oriented steps towards this end adding that local bodies elected representatives and Ulema are being involved in the anti-polio campaigns to achieve the desired results of these campaign which is yielding very encouraging results.
He was talking to a delegation of World Health Organization (WHO) who called on him at his office here on Friday and discussed with him matters related to mutual cooperation for the improvement of health sector with special focus on polio eradication in the province, the post devolution scenario with regard to the devolution of health sector to the provincial governments as a result of 18th Constitutional Amendment and other matters of mutual interest.
The provincial minister said that his government in collaboration with the federal government and the armed forces had launched a very successful campaign against polio virus both in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the adjacent tribal areas simultaneously by the name of “Sehat Ka Ettihad” which had tremendously contributed to the eradication of polio-virus in the province and the tribal areas.-PR
