New Delhi, has publically adopted a hostile posture on the China Pakistan Economic Corridor and has repeatedly tried to dissuade China, during its bilateral interactions, from engaging with Pakistan in the project. India has not left any stone unturned to try to impede its path to becoming a reality. The truth being that, CPEC enables Pakistan in becoming more economically strong and would take control of the waters and trade. The deep sea port of Gawadar allows Pakistan to become forefront in the trade.
India aware of the potential of the project has this time resorted to recruiting the sub-Nationalists to instigate them against the government. India has been funding the Balochs and ever since the arrest of the Indian spy Kulshbashan Jadav the actions of the Indian government have become viler.
RAW over the years has tried to destabilize Pakistan via Balochistan, thereby making an unbridled export of terrorism. Afghanistan has been RAW’s operational corp. RAW’s Afghan role is beefed up by Modi’s government manifested by RAW’s doctrine of espionage. The RAW, being an important instrument of India’s foreign policy, RAW’s aim has been to intrinsically target Pakistan via Afghanistan. The ongoing game of tacit understanding between Washington and New Delhi seems to have highlighted RAW’s Afghan trajectory.
Now India has played an instrumental part in forming the Baloch India Congress where it claims to be working for the betterment of the Baloch community in Pakistan. Pawan Sinha is the president and Swami Jitendranad Sawaswati is General Secretary of this Forum. The type of seminars it has been organizing shamelessly titled as “How Indian can play a rold in the freedom struggle of Balochistan”. Adopting the divide and rule policy now, the Hind-Baloch forum aims to cause a rebellion in the province against the Pakistan government. The guest speakers who spoke in the seminar included Major General (retired) G. D. Bakhshi, Colonel RSN Singh, former Director of India’s intelligence agency, RAW.
Much ado was witnessed in Pakistan when the CPEC route was decided and changed. Even the Chinese officials were able to predict the hostile intentions of India may manifest into a terror attack the aim of which would be to harm the project.
A number of factors cause India to be sensitively worried about the CPEC project. First Pakistan’s GDP growth is Pakistan’s GDP growth is likely to increase to 5.7% in 2017 thanks to CPEC investments. An economically strong Pakistan that is attractive to a huge inflow of foreign investments may fundamentally reshape the balance of power in Asia and decrease India’s role in the region, thereby limiting India’s geopolitical opportunities. Secondly, India is highly concerned about China’s military presence in the Indian Ocean. Whereas, the CPEC project will enable China to get direct access to the Arabian Sea, which could consequently embolden the Chinese to substantially step up their military presence there, something that India deems as an existential threat. Fourth, India seems worried that China is planning to use the Gawadar port deep sea port located in Pakistan’s Balochistan province.
Army Chief Gen. Raheel Sharif said that the army was ready to go to any extent for peace in the country and its security and stability. The army chief spoke about the overall fight against terrorism, security of corridor projects, strategic importance of Gilgit-Baltistan and its role in the CPEC.
“Let Modi and RAW know that our borders are secure. We know our enemy and its conspiracies and we will leave no stone unturned to defeat those plots,” he said while speaking about the threats to the project from India.
Prime Minister Modi had in his country’s independence day speech last month accused Pakistan of suppressing the rights of people in Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir. Although there was no direct reference to the CPEC in the speech, it is inferred that the remarks were also aimed at China, which is investing in those regions as part of the $46 billion communications and infrastructure project.
June 23, 2017, Dr. Ali Akbar Mengal President Baloch Diaspora France had said: “Balochistan is facing worst kind of human rights violations by Pakistani and Chinese Government. Pakistani forces are doing slow and systematic genocide of Baloch people to clear way for sustainability of Chinese Economic and naval bases in Gawadar Balochistan. Baloch Diaspora France warmly congratulates Indian friends for establishing Hind-Baloch Forum at this critical moment when Balochistan and Baloch people are bleeding due to Chinese economic imperialistic policies and Pakistan Punjabi chauvinism. As a regional power, it is moral obligation of Indian government and Indian people to support Balochistan freedom movement and raise voice against human rights violations in Balochistan. Baloch Diaspora will coordinate with Hind-Baloch Forum to raise voice for Baloch people at international forum.”
Mehran Marri, the youngest son of the late Nawab Khair Baksh Marri, delivered a speech that alleges the CPEC as exploitation projects and as cause of genocide of the Baloch culture and heritage. The CIA and RAW nexus has been working on trying to gather the sub-Nationalists to aid them in achieving the internal weakening of Pakistan through Balochistan. Along with the Balochs, the CIA RAW nexus brought in representatives from the World’s Sindh Congress as well as the Uyghur Human Rights activists.
RAW and CIA together have reassured the scions of dissident Baloch Sardars of more funds if they succeed in coming into power, which can potentially lead to more violence and bloodshed amongst the Balochs themselves. This in turn will cause instability in the region leading to hindrance in completion of the CPEC projects. Thus, Pakistan needs to be on a lookout where it comes to India as well the US.
