Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has told the National Assembly after prolonged intraparty discussions that the controversial IB list is a ‘forged’ document. The prime minister may be speaking the truth. That is one probability. The prime minister may be lying. That is another probability.
In either case one thing is absolutely certain. He had no other option than to declare the letter and the list forged, so as to calm down the furious ‘owners’ of the names in the list.
Also to put a cover on the nefarious activities that were generated in the PM House in the days of the sacked PM Mian Nawaz Sharif.
Like most rulers with dictatorial minds, Mian Sahib too had the habit of keeping a close watch on those with any known tendency to ‘disagree’ or to show dissent’. Coincidentally the ‘honourable members and ministers’ in the list have all registered indications that they are too prone to dissent, to be left unattended by handy organizations like the IB.
Mian Nawaz Sharif had reasons to keep the IB Chief Aftab Sultan busy.
Prior to him ZAB too used to love this kind of manipulation of ‘loyalties’.
The ‘distinguished victims’ are furious at having been linked with as dangerous a vice as Terrorism. They can easily get on an ‘international wanted list’ on the basis of what Mr Abbasi has declared to be a forged document.
Has it gone through any forensic test? Or any credible scrutiny by a professional outfit?
As far as the IB is concerned it will never never never plead guilty. They have a job to do.
