ISLAMABAD, February 17: Pakistan Academy of Sciences (PAS) organised a unique event of interaction and dialogue between three generations of intellectuals of Science and Education by organizing a brainstorming session here on Wednesday on “Past, Present and Future of Science in Pakistan. The participants of this event under the banner of “Making Pakistan Science Conscious” included winner of the Olympiad in Science (School Children age 10-15) organized by PakTurk International School; M.Phil & PhD students of various universities and young Scientists (Age 22 to 35); senior scientists including heads/chairpersons of Science Organizations and Universities (like NASIC, PCST, COMSTECH, WWF, Riphah International University, Virtual University, City University).
Secretary General of PAS, Prof. Zabta Khan Shinwari, apprised the participants about objective of this interactive event. He argued for substantial improvements in the education and science arena of the country as the current directionless education and science. President of Pakistan Academy of Sciences, Dr. Anwar Nasim, talked about the historical role of Pakistan Academy of Sciences in the promotion of science and technology and encouraged the participants to contribute in the national interest, by adopting the role of non-government individuals (NGI).
Renowned scientist and Chief Guest of the event, Dr. A. Q. Khan, shared his perception and experiences about role of S&T in national development and well being of humanity. He encouraged the young participants to excel in science to serve the nation and humanity. Later, winners of the Olympiad in Science (school children) received gifts from Dr. A. Q. Khan.-PR
