DHAKA: India has beaten Pakistan in Hockey Asia Cup 2017 with three goals to one on Sunday in one of the most anticipated matches of the tournament given the rivalry of two neighbouring states that trespasses sports besides cricket.
The two teams entered the second quarter zero all as no goals were scored in the first quarter. India and Pakistan both put up several strong attacks on opposite posts for the spectators but not one could be translated to a goal in the first quarter.
Before the match, captain of the green side Muhammad Irfan said that the team would not repeat the mistakes against India. It should be mentioned here that the green shirts had beaten Bangladesh in the opening match of Asia Cup 7 to zero.
Subsequently, Pakistan leveled a match against Japan with two all.
Pakistan and India both are Pool A teams in the ongoing tournament. – Agencies
