Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif has threatened to clip the wings of the NAB if the said Bureau does not stop harassing the ‘innocent’ government functionaries (on account of corrupt practices) and the public representatives (for doing what they are doing) .
This threat has come in the wake of reports that countless cases of corruption and misuse of authority are under investigation by the NAB officials. As per these reports it is not just the province of Sindh that is the centre of the NAB activities, it is also the PML (N) -run province of Punjab where the NAB has found sufficient reasons to necessitate enquiries into various matters. Some of such reports say that even the Prime Minister himself is found in a couple of cases to be involved in misuse of his powers.
Some reliable sources say that Faryal Talpur has conveyed to Mian Nawaz Sharif, her brother Zardari’s concern over the NAB’s as well as the FIA’s ‘undesired activities’.
The Prime Minister has reportedly assured the PPP top leadership that necessary steps would be taken to rein in the NAB officials.
Does this mean Mian Sahib is seriously contemplating some kind of legislation that will render the NAB stingless and meaningless?
