10 December is globally acknowledged as Human Rights Day in remembrance of the passage of Resolution 423 (v) by the UNGA in 1950.There is a long account of activities which took place under the banner of UN to foster the broad concept of universally acknowledged fundamental human rights.Popular topics perpetuated by UN encompass political , civic , economic social and cultural rights . Despite lot of optical measures comprising of paper work and superfluous gatherings , UN being the Pioneer flag bearer of human rights , could not bring a significant improvement in affected areas . Palestine issue alone is enough a test case which sufficiently proves the inability of UN to prove her seriousness on extremely sensitive human tragedies . Rohingiancrisis is another disturbing issue which exposes the absolute humiliation of humanity in the hands of Mayanmargovernment . UN could not play effective role in averting those human tragedies which occurred in Iraq , Libya , Afghanistan and Syria due to foul use of force by the global players .Besides this , UN adopted a mysterious ignorant stance over few sensitive issues attached with the religious sentiments of the Muslim Ummah.Space was provided to pathetic blasphemers like Salman Rushdie and TasleemaNasreenby twisting the concept of freedom of speech . Surprisingly, no value was accorded to the sentiments of millions of Muslims in order to safeguard the so called right of few sick minded so called intellectuals .Legislation in support of Gay rights was protected in clear violationof divine teachings of Islam and Christianity. On one hand, practicing any religion has been considered as one of the fundamental right of a human being but on the other hand global forums like UN did never bother to move in favor of Palestinian cry against Israeli atrocities in and around ALQUDUS mosque . At regional canvas , India appears as the biggest violator of universally acknowledged fundamental human rights .Dalit community , despite being Hindu by religion, could never receive the treatment of a first grade citizen . There still prevails a concept of untouchables ! Hindu extremists demand a conversion of religion from the Muslims and the same act was forcefully imposed upon poor least influential Muslim families under the banner of extremist RSS. Who can forget the recent heart crushing incidents of mob lynching of innocent Muslims for being suspected to slaughter a cow .What happened with the Sikhs in the decade of 80s is another worst example of human rights violation . Millitary operation at Golden Temple was the culminating point of atrocities against Sikhs which subsequently led to assassination of then PM Indira Gandhi by her own Sikh body guards. Reaction of this assassination was not less than a hell for the Sikhs as the east Punjab had to face the worst of state sponsored violence in the name of security . Extra judicial killings , custodial torture , demolition of houses and forfeiture of private properties forced thousands of Sikhs to migrate abroad . Indian state is still paying the price of her inhuman ways as every head of state visiting Europe , USA or UK faces the protest of affected Sikhs . Occupied Kashmir is undoubtedly a great human tragedy of this era . Indian state has openly snatched all fundamental rights of Kashmiris . Students find bayonets of security personnel on their heads instead of books and pens in hands. Women fear a gang rape in the name of security . Months long curfews and closure of markets have left no space for economic activities . Prayer gatherings have been substituted with funeral prayers. There is no other festival except the protest against the inhuman occupation. Recently , an investigative commission exposed inhuman torture on Kashmiri leaders in prisons . Brutal use of pellet guns permanently damaged the vision of innocent people . Now, the Indian forces are using chemical weapons to inflict the pain in more inhuman ways . Riding frequency of encounters and custodial torture is aimed at absolute annihilation of Kashmiri masses . Indian state is precisely following the Israeli model in Kashmir without realizing the long term consequences . It is extremely unfortunate that such a massive violation of human rights prevailing in our region remains unnoticed by the UN and many other relevant forums . Amnesty international raised pertinent objections about highly deteriorated situation of human rights in occupied Kashmir but to no effect . It all went unheard on Indian side as usual . The worst part has started appearing rapidly in the shape of more violence in occupied Kashmir coupled with indiscriminate shelling in AJK. Non assertiveness on part of UN and dual standards of global players ultimately bring a miserable compromise on noble causes like the human rights issues . Long sermons issued from the glamourized forums of UN and other such like institutes prove nothing more than spiritless verbosity if the Kashmiris , Dalits , Sikhs , and the oppressed minorities find no relief in the so called biggest democracy known as India .
