I don’t agree with the view that Donald Trump is a mad man. A mad man cannot rise to such dizzying heights. This man has engineered his road to glory and success with great dexterity and skill. There have been times when I too have been ‘misled’ to believe that he does suffer from some kind of a mental disorder because of which he is driven to arrive at insane decisions. One such decision he has taken very recently. Many thought that his initial adherence to such extreme causes as ‘acceptance’ of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital was not backed by any serious desire to ‘implement’. He has proved them wrong. He is perfectly capable of doing the unthinkable. And this capability is not rooted in ‘impulsive insanity’ but in a ‘committed mindset’. He is a thoroughbred Knight of the Cross. He does every thing with Crusading spirit. Even when he ‘lies’, which he does more often than not, he does it with a sincere passion.
Perhaps when he looks in the mirror, he sees in his image the reincarnation of Richard the Great, the Lion-hearted.
I remember when I was in New York in 1986 in connection with a business engagement, the U.S was abuzz with criticism of a man called Trump for his AVOWED goal to build a 150-storyed building to bring back to New York the distinction of a city with the tallest building in the world.
I happened to watch Trump in a TV interview with a critical host.
“Isn’t it ecological madness to go ahead with such a project,” the host, I remember, asked.
“America, my dear, was built by mad men like me, and not by wise men like you” was Trump’s reply.
So the world has to deal with a man who himself takes pride in his madness. He doesn’t care how ‘isolated’ America may get in the world politics. He believes America by itself is a Universe.
He reminds me of Gorden Gekko, the hero of Wall Street.
“If you are interested in knowing the name of my god”, he tells a friend, “let yourself know it The name of my god is GREED”
The name of Trump’s god is MADNESS.
