PESHAWAR, February 20: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has directed the authorities concerned to complete all the arrangements within next three months regarding rehabilitation project of roads network in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said work on the project at an estimated cost of $ 200 million would begin from Januaruy 2017 and Asian Development Bank would provide financial assistance in this regard.
This he said while exchanging views regarding the project with Country Director of Asian Development Bank Warner who along with Senior Transport Specialist Pawan Wirki called on him at Pakhtunkhwa House Islamabad.
During the meeting, rehabilitation of Highways in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa came under the discussion in details and output based decisions have also been taken in this regard. On this occasion different highways of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with a total length of around about 500 kilometres were identified for rehabilitation on priority basis. It was decided that rehabilitation work would start from January, 2017 with the estimated cost of $.200 million.
Meanwhile, the construction of out ring road from Chamkani to Budhber estimated cost of Rs.12 billion was also decided. Financial assistance for this project would also be provided by the Asian Development Bank. The Chief Minister while talking on the occasion said that the projects would not only improve the quality of roads but would also boost up the socio-economic development. He also made it clear that it was the priority of PTI led provincial government to bring about real change in the lives of poor people. He maintained that all available resources are being utilized in an efficient manner in this regard.
On the occasion authorities of Asian Development Bank lauded the developmental strategy of the provincial government and assured that financial assistance for the projects decided would be provided in time.-PR
