Zardari is restive since long. Nawaz Sharif has also started losing his sleep now. Reason:NAB is not sparing the near and dear ones of these two johnnies. There are reportedly nine cases of corruption in which intensive probe is being made by the NAB which is not liked by the prime minister. This is the precise reason why Nawaz Sharif has threatened NAB not to become too big for its boots lest he should clip its wings. Nobody is going to buy the argument of the prime minister that the NAB is troubling the ‘innocent’How can those persons be billed as innocent who have been looting this country during their stay in power? If they are innocent then who are going to be described as guilty?. Zardari who feels stung by a plethora of corruption cases against his blue-eyed boys has gone a step further by asking the prime minister to twist the arm of the FIA also.
Politicians in the country, no matter if they don’t see eye to eye with one another on other matters, strike the same chord on one issue:they don’t like any investigation against them in their alleged involvement in any financial shenanigan.
Whether or not the chairman NAB or DG FIA would reverse their gear is yet to be seen. The common man, however, expects of them as well as all from other government functionaries not to forget the directive of the Founder of the nation that they should be slave of the state and answerable to it only rather than to any sitting government which is always transitory in nature. If all of them decide in their heart of hearts that they will never execute any illegal order of the government they can never be hanged by the rulers. The worst that can happen to them is that they would be made OSD, no more, no less and isn’t it enjoyable to enjoy government salary without doing something in return for some time? They have to blame none but themselves for degrading themselves in the public eye. The rulers can do nothing against them if they refuse in indulging in gerrymandering or breaking law of the land at their bidding.
