I was amused by a professional analyst’s remark that despite all the celebrations in the victorious camp, the Senate Election results had facilitated the multiplication of a sense of deprivation among the Baloch people. This ‘well-bred’ expert on foreign and security matters, Syed Musharraf Zaidi, is not alone in ending up with a sense of gloom at the PEAK TV HOURS on March 12, 2018.
There are more of this breed who harbour an opinion that making Balochistan a heaven for Baloch nationalism, by promoting leaderships like Mahmood Achakzai’s and Hasil Bizenjo’s, is quite central to eliminating the much ‘talked about’ sense of deprivation. These pseudo-intellectuals, even if they don’t have ‘foreign connections’ or aren’t beneficaries of Maryam’s MEDIA-AID programme, are in effect trying to axe the roots of national integration. If is not Mahmood Achakzai who is ‘deprived’, nor Hasil Bizinjo, it is the COMMON MAN of Balochistan to whom Baloch leaders whether they be ‘nationalists or federalists, don’t transfer their own riches and prosperity.
To me Sadiq Sanjrani is as good a Baloch as Achakzai or Bizenjo. May be more affluent. But who knows how affluent those are who shed regular tears at the woeful state, the ‘Baloch people’ live in?
At the moment what is important to me is who has a Kabul Connection, who has a New Delhi connection, who has a Washington connection and who is satisfied with Rawalpindi connection. To me Rawalpindi is the least threat to be afraid of. It is after all OUR OWN CITY.
