Pakistan today is facing the challenge of dealing with arguably two most avowed enemies of Islam and Muslims. In our east is Narendar Modi about whom Khnshwant Singh in his famous treatise “End of India” wrote: “This man is a vegetarian, but if told the roasted piece of meat he is being served belonged to a Muslim, he would gleefully eat it.”
And in the West is Donald Trump who had built his election campaign on a loud and ruthless anti-Islam agenda. It is because of him that Israel is butchering Palestinian Muslims with merciless abandon.
Pakistan to both of them is an aberration. Even if it deserves to exist, it should not have a genuine army, and shouldn’t be in possession of nuclear weapons. Most importantly it should disown the Quranic version of Islam.
In this context, I remember what the late General Hameed Gul used to philosophise: “They want to demilitarize Pakistan. Also to denuclearize it. And off course to deIslamise it in a manner that our Muslim Identity gets confined to some of our rituals and our cultural traditions.”
Precisely why India under Modi has invested hugely on MNS and in his continuity. MNS happens to be an excellent choice for both Modi and Trump to pursue their agenda. MNS has dreams to establish dynastic rule in Pakistan which he can’t do if he doesn’t have authority to appoint Captain Safdar as the Chief of Army Staff— and to make the Judiciary answerable to the likes of Fawwad Hassan Fawwad. His daughter more than shares his view that Pakistan minus it Army will be so much easier to rule. Hence the conversion of both to the version of Islam that both Trump and Modi find harmless. Reagan found Gorbachev to dismember the Soviet Union. The enemies of Pakistan have found in MNS a very convenient instrument of pursing their agenda.
It is time for us to wake up and deal with this man and his cronies in as befitting a manner as every traitor should be dealt with Pakistan can’t afford the luxury of dealing generously with those who are playing in the hands of its sworn enemies.
Our law protects corruption. Our lawyers defend the corrupt. And our judges act as per law.
And now it is not just the corruption of this man, we have to deal with. It is also his adoption of Treason as a method of Trade.
