ABDULLAH MUSTAFVI
It is now quite a while that president Donald Trump announced American policy for South Asia . Placing Indian opinion in centre place , while dealing with regional issues, was an important aspect of that policy . Besides, the policy even offered preference to Indian desires in dealing with various issues in Afghanistan as well . Immediately after announcement of this policy , Pakistan started receiving highly meaningful and biased allegations of terror sponsoring from official quarters of USA . Understandably , this all started from USA side after declaring India as her strategic ally in south Asian region to strengthen the newly developed bond. USA expressed concerns over free movement of alleged perpetrators of Mumbai attacks . Though, Pakistan always promptly responded to such biased allegations by denying any kind of ‘state actors’ involvement in Mumbai attacks but diplomatic cannonade from Indo- US guns remains continue because the whole purpose of this blame game is to pressurize Islamabad on Kashmir issue and Nuclear program . Most obviously , Indo – USA nexus is determined to eliminate the freedom movement in Kashmir and also desire absolute roll back of Pak nuclear program. Allegations about Mumbai attacks are just a mean to enhance pressure on Pakistan to break the nerves on Kashmir issue and Nuclear program . It will be unfair to delink recent controversial interview of ex PM Nawaz Sharif from existing regional tug of war . Without casting any doubts on his commitment to the country , one can never ignore the fact that unwise words from him has provided a favourable opportunity to the enemies of Pakistan . Here we need not to mention that how Indian media celebrated this statement by fuelling the traditional anti Pakistan hype but official response emerging from India and USA should be enough to open the eyes of all those who still believe that ex PM had spoken without any specific cross border context . Even if ex PM was speaking purely his heart out , but the poor selection of words coupled with extremely wrong selection of a controversial journalist had spoiled the upcoming election show for the PML-N. As expected both strategic partners, USA and India , responded over the statement to the best of their interests . US defence department expressed concerns over non arrest of Mumbai attacks perpetrators , declared Pakistan a victim as well as sponsor of terrorism and expected a much important role for the regional peace . Indian Foreign secretory reportedly welcomed the content of interview and also admitted that a proper appreciatory statement was stopped only with this intention that political opponents of Nawaz might have used it to their advantage in next national elections . Undeniably , unwise ways of our political quarters have put Pakistan into deep troubles . Economic graph has been persistently declining, contrary to the high sounding claims of PPP and PML-N, during last decade. Performance on diplomatic front is much below the minimum desired level . Pakistan had to face the diplomatic onslaught of enemies with dubious run away character like Hussain Haqani placed as ambassador in a country like USA during PPP tenure and without any full time foreign minister for more than four years of PML-N. Governance standards have fallen more below than the past , unemployment is looming , complete failure in capacity building of Police and lack of political will on accountability of corrupt quarters eventually dragged Pakistan into a state of sheer disappointment . Internal disorders have appeared as the biggest hurdle in dealing with multi dimensional external challenges . It is unfortunate that an elected PM is facing charges of corruption, while in a complete state of denial with no believe on state courts , and consuming all available energy in self defence . No one from his party, which still happens to be the ruling regime, is ready to answer that how come the country had reached to such below standard levels in all fields . No genius from ruling party is ready to explain that what diplomatic objectives were set forth by ex PM five years back once he happened to be the foreign minister of this unfortunate country . Extremely non serious response have been offered by ruling party over ex PM ‘s irresponsible interview . PM Shahid Khakan led the bunch of geniuses from the front with disappointing contradictory stance. Joint statement of national security council was rejected by ex PM who firmly defended each word reported by his favourite journalist . Disappointment was all for the sitting PM and CM Punjab who , as usual without judging the merit of the issue, started defending Nawaz’s statement with the rotten argument of misreporting . Let’s not doubt the loyalty of any one with the soil of Pakistan but one aspect stands more exposed with recent episode that personal interests of ruling regime meant every thing for them and in blind chase of such objectives they can step on the neck of Pakistan if the need arises.
