ISLAMABAD, May 24: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan said he is proud that his party stood up against the prime minister [Nawaz Sharif] involved in money laundering and got him convicted.
Speaking on the floor of the National Assembly on Thursday, the PTI chief said that he did not commit any wrongdoing by identifying a person plundering national wealth.
Without naming former Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif, Imran Khan said there was a member who said “Koi Sharam Hoti Hai Koi Haya Hoti Hai” is no longer in the parliament.
Mentioning the FATA Reforms bill, the PTI chief said that tribal areas have got their due rights as the assembly passes the long pending bill today. “It is a big win for entire Pakistan. We are public representatives and it’s our duty to protect rights of every citizen,” he added.
He said the the tribal people want immediate justice just like the system in KP, and the demand for a separate province was unreasonable.
While criticisng other PML-N member he stated that defenders of money laundering have a dead conscience like their leader [Nawaz Sharif] who shamelessly advocated such illegal activity.
“It is our right to stand against money laundering,” Khan stressed.
Imran’s speech was disrupted by opposition’s protest, and he and his party lawmakers walked out of the house right after his address.
Earlier, constitutional amendment bill for the merger of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province was passed in the National Assembly.
The Constitution (Thirty-First Amendment) Bill 2018 was presented by Law Minister Chaudhary Mahmood Bashir Virk. Two hundred and twenty-nine voted in favour of the constitution amendment while only one against it.
According to the constitution amendment, FATA will be granted sixteen general seats, four seats for women and one seat for non-Muslims in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. The elections shall be held within one year after the general elections.-Agencies
