The great tragedy with Nawaz Sharif’s mindset is that at some point of time in the past he started believing that having got elevated to the highest position of authority in the country, he and his family had automatically acquired the ownership of the country’s resources, land and wealth. This mindset was reflected in his statements.
“I have allocated so many billions on such and such projects in such and such towns or cities.”
“I did this. I did that.”
Never for a moment it ever occurred to him that it was taxpayer’s money he was spending. It was the people’s wealth he was showering on his favoured ones. He was sitting up there only as a trusted custodian.
It was quite a shock for him when a few judges dared to challenge his right of ownership and his authority to rule over the country that he thought belonged to him like all fiefdoms had belonged to the FIEFS in all ages.
He has not come out of that shock, and his continuous descent into hysteria and insanity is owed to his failure to reach at terms with reality.
Another failure that is aggravating his ‘condition’ is the dismal outcome of his two-decade long Crusade against Imran Khan’s character. He had thought long time back that by making the charges of an adulterous and philanderous life stick to Imran Khan he would get rid of the most dangerous challenge to his political dominance.

Today IK stands head and shoulders above the rest in the political arena.
