ISLAMABAD, June 24: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has again summoned Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shahbaz Sharif on June 25, in an inquiry pertaining to Saaf Pani Company. The NAB had called Shahbaz Sharif on Monday but he did not appear. However, Shahbaz’s representative Amir Afzal appeared before the NAB regional team and explained the PML-N president’s engagements. The NAB subsequently adjourned the hearing till June 25. He also submitted reply on behalf of Shahbaz Sharif in this case.
Sources claimed that Shahbaz Sharif has been summoned by the NAB over appointments made in the company. The NAB team had desired Shahbaz to bring along all relevant financial records of the company including the salary records of officers.
It may be noted that the Punjab government established the company to conceive, plan, design, execute and manage projects for the provision of safe drinking water in terms of both access and quality to the communities living in unserved and underserved areas – rural and peri-urban areas of the province. Former Punjab finance minister Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Waheed Gul MPA and Hamza Shehbaz have also appeared before the NAB in the case.-Agenciess
