ISLAMABAD, February 23: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has formally launched media-based plan to enhance its interaction with the students for their educational support and to keep them informed about new academic initiatives.
The plan will be implemented through tv/radio and non-broadcast audio/video programs to support their courses at various levels, said Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui while presiding over a review meeting of Task Force that has been set up to bridge between academia and the students. The Task Force will meet on monthly basis to ensure proper interaction between the University and students through media network.
The plan includes launching of web TV, expansion of FM radio’s transmission, provision of videos on demand and live-broadcast of academic programs. Uninterrupted live transmission of FM radio has been started forthwith wherein professors and academicians respond to students’ queries through live-calls. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui said that the University has also decided to launch FM radio stations at 12 regional campuses. In this regard, work for the establishment of stations at seven campuses Lahore, Karachi, Quretta, Peshawar, Mirpur, Multanand DG Khan is in progress, while establishing stations at far flung area is also being planned The University is also in process of launching its own education TV Channel, he added.-PR
