QUETTA, February 23: Balochistan High Court on Tuesday admitted a petition against acquittal of former president Pervez Musharraf and others in Akbar Bugti murder case, sources reported.
Nawabzada Jamil Akbar Bugti had filed a plea on Feb 17 in which he challenged the acquittal of Musharra, former federal minister Aftab Sherpao and ex-home minister Balochistan Shoaib Nausherwani.
The hearing was conducted by Justice Shakeel Ahmed Baloch.
The petitioner said their witnesses were not heard during the case proceedings before acquittal of suspects in the case.
He claimed that the ATC decision was against merit. He said evidences were also not entertained in the trial court.
The court accepted the petition and issued notice to respondents including Musharraf, Aftab Sherpao.
The antiterrorism court on January 18 had acquitted former president Pervez Musharraf and two ex-ministers in Akbar Bugti murder case.
The litigation continued for a period of three-and-a-half years and the ATC issued its verdict today after reaching its decision following completion of arguments from both the sides.
Baloch nationalist leader Akbar Bugti was killed with his companions in an army operation in Tartani area of Kohlu district on Aug 26, 2006. Mr Musharraf and Mr Sherpao were among the nominated accused in the case.-Agencies
