It is not the gun but the man behind it who matters. Not once, but many times, our armed forces have proved this old adage right by their valour in wars against India and the terrorists. The heroism which they showed in the inhospitable geographical terrain of Waziristan will be written with golden letters in their annals. A British brigadier had once remarked that whosoever tried to intervene militarily in Waziristan should, beforehand, find out escape route as sooner or later he would have to retreat which will be under the fire of the local tribesmen. It goes to the credit of our Armymen that they have proved the British brigadier wrong by their heroic performance in crushing the terrorists in Waziristan and establishing their writ in that area.
There is no doubt, whatever, that the Armed forces of Pakistan are second to none in the entire muslim world when it comes to professionalism. This fact makes India green with envy. Whether it is ground, sea or air, Pakistani soldiers have kept aloft the banner of this country. The Pakistan’s army is a sore in the eyes of the Indians and their paid agents in Pakistan whether they are so-called intellectuals or some media men. They would not let any opportunity go by where they could malign it by inventing all types of false stories against it as well as against the ISI which have been doing excellent job in defending the geographical frontiers of this country, besides, foiling many subversive activities against this country by preempting and nipping them in the bud.
A case in point is a recent article in a Karachi journal captioned Triangle of Terrorism in which the writer tried to hold Pakistan responsible for every thing that goes wrong in the sub-continent which is just not on. Freedom of expression, no doubt, is sacrosanct to all of us but it too has its limits. One has to draw a red line when it comes to propaganda against our armed forces who are sacrificing their today for our tomorrow. Why has the author of this article forgotten that India has never reconciled to
the existence of Pakistan?. Doesn’t he know that of all the countries, Afghanistan was the only country which opposed our admission into the UN, tooth and nail, in 1947, obviously, to appease New Delhi? Is he not aware of the fact that right from 1947 onward up till today, India, in cahoots with Afghanistan has been trying to create unrest in the FATA? It is not understandable why the author who penned the aforementioned article didn’t mention India’s promise before the UN in 1948 to hold a plebiscite in Kashmir on which New Delhi has since gone back? Why he didn’t remember the permission allowed by Kabul to India to use its soil for its subversive activities against Pakistan? To lay all the blame for unrest in the sub-continent at our door amounts to distorting history and the journal which carried this highly malicious article had better refrain from committing the same mistake in future.
