Today the nation go to the polls to elect those who are going to lead them during the next five years in the centre as well as in the provinces. If we critically analyse the performance of the people who have been in the saddle for the last 8 years or so in this country, we note that it wasn’t up to the mark. They have a lot to live down. Two political parties who claimed themselves as the biggest political entities in the country and who ruled the country turn by turn did not deliver. Their performance was short of public expectations. Their stints in office was pockmarked by corruption galore. While most of their leaders became filthy rich, the living standard of the common man took a nose-dive. Most of these very people are striving once again to get into power. Do they deserve yet another chance ?This is the question on which the electorate ought to ponder over seriously before casting their vote today .
This country is today beset with numerous problems. Unemployment, poor civic amenities, inadequate Medicare, class difference in education, grown and growing gap between the rich and the poor, tax evasion on the part of the elite, undocumented economy, water and energy crisis etc etc stare the country in the face. Revolutionary steps will have to be taken on emergency basis on a war footing by the rulers who would assume power on the strength of 2018 elections. It is not going to be beer and skittles for them. The common man today is a lot more politically awakened than he was 8 years back. Nobody can take him.
