When the Pakistan Super League began early this month, Islamabad United led by Misbahul Haque looked confirmed and ‘emphatic’ underdogs. The hype created around the Karachi Tigers infact made all other teams look dismally hopeless. But soon Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi began to steal all limelight. Till Islamabad United suddenly changed gear and went on to the winning ways, all speculation was focused on whether Quetta or Peshawar would lift the first trophy.
Cricket has once again proved that it is a game of glorious uncertainties. Lahore Qalandars could not win a key match even after posting the first 200plus score. And yesterday Quetta after looking like posting over 200 runs, slumped to 174 which too was an impressive score. But Islamabad United once again looked ruthlessly efficient.
Misbahul Haque’s team has lifted the first trophy of the PSL—and certainly not undeservedly. They have beaten all other competing teams— and in a row.
The question that has arisen is ‘why Misbah isn’t playing in T-20 world cup’.
And why has Khurram Manzoor been preferred over Ahmad Shahzad?
