Nirendra Modi didn’t attend the UN General Assembly’s annual session last year and instead sent his foreign minister to address it . It is not yet clear whether he is going to attend its session towards the end of the current month or again skip it over. There are two views whether or not our PM should attend it. There are some quarters who are of the view that he had better not leave he country for at least three months and during this period set his house in order. In the meantime his FM may visit the countries whose heads of state our PM want to meet. After the FM completes the necessary homework, only then he should fly into the capitals of these countries. He should never fly in to Washington unless the US president invites him formally. There is , however, another view also which says that since heads of over 100 countries are present on the occasion of UN general assembly’s session which provides a golden opportunity to our PM to meet them and exchange views on many issues, therefore, the PM must visit New York.
In the past it was customary on the part of every ruler of this country that soon after taking oath of his office he did two things:perform Umra at the Taxpayers’ money and fly into Washington to give his arrival report to the tenant of the White House.
If after all, our PM has to go on foreign visits, the common man of this country would appreciate that, to start with, he first of all visits the neighbouring countries like Afghanistan, Iran, Russia and China before visiting any other country.
