Once again Prime Minister Imran Khan spoke extempore—-this time to the distinguished audience of the memorial function held on the Defense & Martyrs Day.
Infact he was speaking to the whole nation. Not just to the whole nation, to the whole world. He was making clear to everybody where Pakistan of today— in the times of his governance— stands on various key issues.
The most important point he put his emphasis upon was Pakistan’s irrevocable marriage with Islam.
“This is the only country on the earth to have come into being on the basis of the ‘Muslim Umma’ concept, ‘he said: “And inorder to rise to the glory Islam once was, we have to follow the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) that transformed scattered tribes and clans into a World-beating nation in just two decades”.
The other point he laid his emphasis upon was ‘the need to eradicate social injustice from the country because of which the children of the deprived roam hungry in the streets while the stinking rich continue to pile up billions after billions and live in obscene luxury.
The third point he laid his emphasis upon was the need to bury the sinister myth created regarding civil-and-military relations.”We are all one nation—- with one goal, to build Pakistan”, he said.
The fourth point he emphasized upon was the need to universalize education— and to create an environment in which the rich and the poor have equal opportunities to rise on the basis of merit.
His fifth point was regarding the ascendant status of those who lay down their lives in the defense of their Faith and Frontiers.
“Allah has placed the Status of the Martyrs below just His Prophets and above all the rest. As Muslims we believe in the life hereafter. The martyrs there will be reaping rich rewards”.
I reckon this speech of IK among his best.
Speaking one’s heart out, and reading a speech written by some XYZ are two very different propositions.
